Unlike most of the pantries in Bloomington/Normal, we invite our customers to return once a week for food. This policy allows us to build a rapport, to demonstrate the love of Jesus through heartfelt care, and to build bridges to spread the gospel.
We ask our customers to fill out a short application each time they come in, but we do not require any special qualifications for groceries. Our primary desire is to nourish souls.
Occasionally, our staff of church volunteers is supplemented with recent nonviolent detainees from our separate prison ministry. They earn community service hours at the pantry and enjoy the privilege of giving back to society. The interaction between volunteers of widely varied backgrounds has resulted in deeper walks of faith on both sides.
